European Geoscience Union 2023

Last week the EcoPeak4Fish was represented by Isabel Boavida at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) 2023, that took place from 23 to 28 April in Vienna, Austria.

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly brings together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the earth, planetary, and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.

This year, the EGU 2023 was a great success with more than 18 000 registered attendees of which 15,453 made their way to Vienna from 107 countries and 3,378 joined online from 105 countries. In total, there were 16,357 presentations given in 938 sessions.

Isabel Boavida, from CERIS, Instituto Superior Técnico, presented the last flume experiments to mitigate the hydropeaking at the H10.10 session on “Modeling and Design of Natural and Nature Based Features with a particular focus on rivers and ecosystems affected by hydropeaking”, hosted by Gabriele Chiogna (Convener) and John Kucharski, Marie-Pierre Gosselin, Daniel S. Hayes, Marriah Abellera, Bregje van Wesenbeeck, and Mauro Carolli.
