SHAREe
Sustainable Hydropower to Alleviate and Reduce Environmental externalities
SHAREe project, funded by the European Economic Area (EEA) grants, will deepen the research on sustainable hydropower to mitigate environmental externalities between the IST-ID, Universidade de Lisboa (Lisbon, Portugal), and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (Trondheim, Norway).
Norway and Portugal have invested significant financial and scientific resources to implement mitigation and compensation measures, though with different but complementary objectives. Therefore, both countries can establish a symbiotic relationship based on knowledge interchange, which will ensure mutual benefit and progress according to their prominent and singular position in the hydropower sector.
The scope of SHAREe is to advance our knowledge of the environmental measures to improve sustainable hydropower by sharing experiences among countries and establishing a network for future projects on sustainable hydropower.
Specific objectives include:
- To foster cooperation between the academia in Norway and Portugal based on joint research actions having benefits for both;
- To bring together expertise, best practices, and ideas from both partners, promoting synergistic outputs and new ideas;
- To improve the personal experience, sharing and exchanging cultural backgrounds, and to create the opportunity to test ideas to a different ecological reality;
- To provide opportunities for careers and research experience, namely through new contacts during the project.
